Clarification

My wonderful husband was looking through my blog today, and noticed something. Earlier when I was writing about how great Register Rewards (RR) were at Walgreens, I mentioned in the same post that milk was on sale for $2.49. Unfortunately, there are several things that RR can NOT be used on...one of which is milk (tobacco, alcohol, and prescriptions are also on the list). If you are buying milk, as well as other things, you CAN use your RR to pay for the other items. You just can't use them to buy milk alone. Just thought I'd clarify that :)

  1. What are register rewards and how do you get them? I see people talk about them a lot, but have no clue what they actually are!

  2. RR (register rewards) are coupons that WAGS (Walgreens) will give you at the register for buying certain items in one purchase. They are similar to cash but have restrictions...you can't use them to purchase the same product (or a product from the same manufacturer)you can't use them on certain products such as alcohol, and you must have more items than RRs. But you can say if you want to use two $2 RRs to buy diapers, you can buy a pack of diapers and a .25 mint or something to have two items. When people talk about fillers they are talking about low cost items to add to their item totals so they can use more RRs. It is a bit complicated and some of the employees don't understand why one isn't working and will tell you things that aren't quite right but usually the problem is the item count, or the product being the same manufacturer (particularly Procter and Gamble products as they encompass so many smaller companies). But RRs are a great way to get free products if you have just a little patience.

  3. So you don't have to sign up for them or anything you just get them??

  4. Right. You do not have to sign up. They are "catalinas" that just print out after your transaction is complete. Sometimes a coupon prints out, as well. It just depends on the item. Some Register Rewards (RR) deals are advertised, and others are not. The Chips Ahoy RR was an unadvertised RR.

Basically, Walgreens considers RR a coupon. What wordywifey was saying is true about Walgreens...you can only have one coupon per item at Wags. It gets confusing because they don't count Walgreens coupons (store coupons) in that count. So, you just have to keep the coupon count principle in mind when you go to use your RR. Hope this helps!! I'm thinking about having a coupon class sometime...would you be interested??

  5. I would be VERY interested in a coupon class, I have always tried to use coupons but I am not very good at it and it is my goal to use them all the time now!
